The side activities are fantastic, I've enjoyed Chocobo's and Fishing and Cooking and everything around they've left to do. The car should offer more freedom, although it's understandable that they've not allowed GTA style freedom in going offroad. The soundtrack is sublime, listening to old FF games on the road is amazing. The combat takes some getting used to, unlike other Final Fantasy games, you're not in direct control of all party members so they don't always do as you'd expect, but over time you'll come to rely on their skills and they will save you from yourself when you charge in against 9 enemies.
